X3-X6 Macros

OK.. Here is the problem..

I have been using X3 for a long time. We decided to try X6. I loaded it and ran it for its 30 days. I decided to just stay with X3 for now. I uninstalled X6 from my pc (windows 7). Now i cannot use macros on x3 anymore. When i load them to the proper location Corel does not see them. They are no longer in the customization area. It does show two default macros but they are not even showing up in the area where i normal load the macros. C;/program files x86/corel/corel 13/gms.... So i am lost.. any ideas??????

That path should be C:\Program Files x86\Corel\Corel Graphics Suite X3\DRAW\GMS

Note that the GMS directory should be under the DRAW directory.

If that is correct, then put the DVD into the drive and when the install menu comes up, select 'Repair' and run it, to fix any missing items/links.

You are correct. That is the right directory. Still have the same problem. I completely uninstalled corel X3 and even manually deleted anything that was left behind. Still no luck.

Are you able to launch the VBA editor? Do your Macros show on the left hand side of the editor?

  • In reply to Shelby Moore:

I can launch the vba editor. On the left i only have global macros and vba projects. My other 4 macros dont even show up. Funny thing is in corel if you go to customization, macros i show 2 that are page numbering and create color swatch. Those dont even show up in the directory as being there. Its almost like the macros are pointing to a different directory all together... HELP....

Since you are using Windows 7 the GMS folder is protected, and by default if you drop files into it, they will not show up. You can change the permissions but I would recommend putting your GMS files in your User Folder, it would look something like this:

    C:\Users\Shelby\AppData\Roaming\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6\Draw\GMS

The quick way to get to your user folder is open Windows Explorer and type %appdata% that should get you this far:

    C:\Users\Shelby\AppData\Roaming

Then you can dig into the rest. Place all your GMS files in the GMS folder, restart CorelDRAW and see if they show up.

Well, we tried that and no luck. I only have 4 macros we use everyday. I put them all in the folder and still nothing showed up. The crazy thing is i have another windows 7 pc and everything works great on it. I think the X6 trial done something. Who knows....... Any other ideas??

Check the GMS files by right clicking and select Properties, make sure they are not locked, also check to make sure they are not Read only.

I was hoping it was as easy as read only. BUT!! everything is in order.. One thing did change though. After i moved all the macros to the appdata area i had two more macros show up. The funny thing is i didnt put them there. I swear its pointing to a different directory... What the heck!!!!

Maybe this will help... In VBA i found the items that show up in Macros within Corel. They are in the Forms folder in VBA. Any ideas?
