Just upgraded to a new Windows 7 machine. Will X3 work?

It should work, if the Windows 7 is 32 bit just load. If you have the 64 bit you will need to load "Vitural PC" in Windows first.

thanks! just familiarizing myself with 7. Not sure about Virtual PC mode but I'll research. Will Virtual PC mode be required every time I load X3 or just for installation?

Just make sure you use Win 7 Pro not Home Premium and it should work fine.
I have X3, X4 & X5 all loaded on a Win 7 Pro 64bit machine.
Unfortunately it is Home Premium 64bit. Am I out of luck?
Out of luck? Maybe not. You may be able to upgrade your 7 Home premium to Professional. You will be out some money and it may be better to upgarde to Draw X5. If you have other software that may not work in Windows 7 it may be wiser to upgrade Windows and add the Virtual PC (XP) mode..
