Does anyone know how to create a logo with no backround and save it that way so when we import it to a web site we
can put it on any existing backround? I'm using Corel Draw 12 and Photo 12.
Thanks,
Brian
The short answer:
merge your logo with the background pattern/color in advance. Then import as a regular image on the site.
You'll be done in minutes. If you have hours to kill, try experimenting with:
1. PNG. Then realize 24 bit PNG's with 8 bit transparency are not supported perfectly yet across browers.
2. GIF. The 1-bit transparency is rough looking IMO
3. Flash. Looks good but requires flash plugin to view. Also you need know how to enable transparencies in the HTML code.
After building about 25 sites, and experimenting with transparencies for hours and hours, I come back to a flattened bitmap. It's reliable, EZ, and if made right will be a small file size.

…and sometimes, transparency in Paletted (8-bit) GIF or Paletted PNG is exactly what you need.
In the attached, all five samples are GIFs, imported to one bitmap for demonstration.
