Let's say I create a circle and then a smaller circle within the larger one. How can I make the center of the circle transparent so that when it is over other objects only the center of the object will allow what is beneath to show through?
Transparency can't do it from what I can see since you can make the center (smaller circle) transparent but if you make the larger one transparent then you can't have the resulting object a color.
I could use the eraser tool on both circles in the center but that seems tedious.
I want to make other more complex objects with "holes" in them but can't figure out an easy way to do it.
Thanks,
Mark
Same results, as Val described..........but I use Combine. The order you created the circles shouldn't matter.
Select both of your circles, on your Upper Property Bar, select the Combine icon or ctrl+ L .
Abracadabra, you've got yourself a donut. <yum>
Val,
Thank you very much. I feel stupid that I didn't figure that out!
While I kind of have your attention I have another question. Around this "donut" I need to write four words. The words in the two upper quadrants are easy. I just make a quarter circle and fit text to path and the words come up in the correct orientation.
But for the lower quadrants I need the letters to read from left to right. If I select "place on other side" then the letters are too close together. Is there anyway to adjust the kerning after you fit letters to a path?
Thanks again for the help with the other question.
I think I figured it out.
While still attached to the path you can use the text dialog to adjust kerning!
