Problem viewing cdr files in CorelDraw 11 I installed on my laptop running Windows XP

I've installed coreldraw 11 on a laptop running windows xp. The program installed and will open, but I can't open old cdr files that were saved in coreldraw 11 cdr format years ago. Why won't they open so I can view the file's graphic?
