Need to find a copy of CorelDRW.exe file for a re-install of Ver. 8 into a new Win 98 computer. The CD was scratched.

My CorelDraw 8 CD has been scratched and won't install the file Coreldrw.exe on a new machine that is running Win 98 SE. I have an old laser engraver has printer drivers for Win 98 any wont run on later setups. So I need to re-install CorelDraw 8, but without the one file it would run. Any thoughts where I can get a copy of that one file?

Ver. 8 is very old you may go to some where like eBay and buy a used version. And you would have to check but Corel 9 may also work and is a better program.

How do you know that it is just that single file? Does the install process complete and just says that one file is bad? How do you know that other files will also not be damaged?

I have had some luck in polishing scratched disc. I use my fingers and toothpaste. Not the gel type paste, the white. You can use a product called Bon Ami in the begining if the scratches are really bad. add just enough water to make a paste.

Two things to try with an unreadadble DVD:

Try copying the entire DVD contents to a folder on the hard drive or USB memory. If the copy succeeds, you will be able to install from the image.

If the copy fails, try to perform the copy on other DVD drives. Some are better at handling errors than others.
