The installation went fine and I've designed and saved a file. The file transfers fine but upon open of client's computer the file opens to a blank graphic file with nothing. But they can see in the file properties that something is there by the file name, size kb etc. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of getting an inexpensive computer with an older version of windows, since I've seen many people state corel 9 works fine on older windows.? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
I presume it is you that has the windows 8 end.
The only suggestion I can make at the moment is for you to create a small test file of something that is not confidential and upload it here. We can then test it in a later version, which will at least confirm whether those objects actually are in the file.
The forum has a file size limit of 512Kb and you should select use rich formatting when you reply, and then look for the insert media icon.

Below is a test file from me using corel draw 9 on a windows 8.1 . I can see it fine and use the software fine but when I send it to client they see nothing but Graphic 1 - same as I do when I open there test file.

(A-Z) looks fine in X7 -- it shows rows of keytops. The only thing that looks strange about the file is the name of the layer, which is ͼ²ã 1 but could possibly mean something in a special character set. I've saved it as legacy CMX to see if that is any better for you.

TPCtest also opens fine here in X7 (brush script text set in a circle). So, neither of you are creating empty files.
Do you both have all the updates at ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/CorelDRAW/DRAW9Suite/ ? And as a second thought, are you using identical fonts? Though that would only affect text, and in A-Z at least there are lines that should show regardless of fonts.
