Hope someone can help on this. Over the years we have created thouands of designs for customers and stock. I need a way to print them in a catalog format so we can quickly reference them. Over 95% of images are coreldraw images. Is there a way I can convert them all the .jpg or .pdf files for reference so no one can mess will the originals. Any help would be appreciated.
Jimmy
Hi Jkeefe,First: everything can be messed with. Even a jpeg. And regardless of software. Question is how it can be messed with.If you have made a coreldraw cdr-file with several layers, save them as a jpeg as you yourself mention, if that works for you. Depending on how you like them to be sent to your client a JPEG, TIF, GIF or PNG would work fine. And if you make a PDF, then you should first save your document in one of the mentioned file formats, and then link or import into your coreldraw in one of the mentioned file formats, and then save as a PDF. The PDF will then entail those mentioned file formats. Dont send your original files from coreldraw. In CorelDRAW go via either EXPORT, and from there choose the file format. Or go via Publish to the Web and Web image optimizer, and from there choose fileformats. You could also, if you prefer, open your files with Corel Photo-Paint and choose the same Export and Publish to web choice.
Hello Jimmy,
with a little programming with VBA, you should be able to automate the conversion. Not sure if anyone else on this site has already created a script to do exactly that.
Out of interest, what version of CorelDRAW files do you have there? What is your goal with creating the catalog? Is it for you to find files you previously created or is it for others to see them?

Thanks guys!
We have a screenprinting and awards business. Our sales staff is constantly asking our graphic artist, "Do you have this file?" or "What do you have for basketball?" If I could create a catalog or a database of the designs for the sales staff to reference, it would save a lot of time for the customer, the sales staff and the graphic artist. With this many designs, converting to .jpg individually would be very time consuming. Know any shortcuts?
Thanks again for the help and I will look into the Virtual Basic. (I don't know much about it).
In CorelDraw is standart macros "File converter".
(Tools - Visual Basic - Play - File Converter)
It will help with such situation.
I would suggest a product that shipped in several earlier versions of Corel - Canto Cumulus www.canto.com It is DAM (digital asset management) software, and will allow you build (even automatically) catalogs, It has plenty of features, and should do the job for you.
