Hi all,
I just purchased Corel Cad 2014 so that I can make 3D models out of 2D product designs.
All I need to do is extrude the 2D vectors from my CDR file. However, when I open the file in CorelCad,
and try to extrude certain shapes, I get this error:
"Modeling operation error: Sweep created a surface with parallel u and v".
The same object will not revolve.
There seems to be no reason that some objects work and others do not; I've tried several file formats, all of them have the same issues.
Is there some way to resolve this? I need 100% of the imported objects to work.
Thank you for your help!
Dan
Hi Dan,
2 suggested workarounds for splines that do not extrude:
1) Convert to polyline using the ExplodeX command. Extrude the (closed!) polyline.
2) Try SWEEP instead of EXTRUDE command. You will need a sweep path in the desired Z (height) direction and length which you can create as a simple line before launching the SWEEP command with that spline.
Best regards,Klaus
Klaus, I got the EXPLODEX command to work, and the spline extruded.
However, the object that was generated is not a solid, the sides are transparent.
Any suggestions? You're the best, thanks!
Now when I try to export to STL file, the program freezes badly, and the file that is written is 0 KB and says
"The file is invalid for use as the following : Certificate Trust List"
What do I have to do to export a STL file?
On Mac version I was able to create binary STL file from your test DWG (attached).
File -> Export -> select STL from file type list ->
Command: EXPORT
Specify entities»
4 found
Default: NoConfirm: Create a binary STL file?Specify Yes or No» y
Command:
Maxim
It must be nice to have functional software.
When I attempt to do the same, my CorelCad freezes and writes a 0 KB file that cannot be used.
Maybe you are trying to export extremely complex model? Have you tried STL export with DWG file I sent you yesterday? Does it fails too?
The program fails at exporting an extruded oval into STL format.
This is one small part of the model I need to create.
