Exporting ai files from CDX6 to Adobe InDesign CS6 - not working!

Whatever I seem to do, my ai files won't export properly from CDX6 and render in ID CS6.  I've never had this problem with CD12 - they work perfectly.  I drop them onto the page and voila, they render immediately.  With CDX6, I think I've pretty much tried all the exporting options for ai and when I drop the file onto the ID CS6 page, I just a blank frame or an error message.  Anyone got any idea how to fix this?

I'm also curious to know the ai format that CD12 exports as, as this might give a clue as to why X6 seems unable to handle it.

IT's very frustrating as I'd far rather use X6 which is a lot easier to use and has more features.

Tobe

It may be that X6 saves Ai as CS5 as the newest and possible has items not supported in the AI format so without seeing the CD file it's tough to know. Try exporting a press ready PDF.
