As outlined briefly in the tutorial video "Creating understandable technical illustrations", there is a new tool in Corel DESIGNER X5 helping you to streamline the use of numbered callouts even further.

The callout tools in Corel DESIGNER - already very powerful with halos and context sensitive callout text such as automatic increment - have been enhanced further with an additional option to automatically renumber callouts at any time after they have been created.
This will be a huge time saver whenever you have to change the order of numbered callouts because of modifications in the illustration (such as inserting or removing parts). Instead of updating the callouts manually one by one, you now can now complete this task with basically one click.

The new "automatic renumbering" in Corel DESIGNER X5 works with all callout objects that have been created using automatic increment. In the standard workspace this tool is hidden, so here's how you enable this handy feature with a tool bar button in the Properties bar for callouts.

Update your workspace with the "Automatic renumbering" button in the Properties tool bar:
1. Download the custom workspace items in CalloutRenumbering_EN.xslt and save the file to your hard drive.
Note to German users: There is a German (DE) workspace file included in the above download (ZIP file) as well.
2. In the Options dialog (Tools > Options...), navigate to "Workspace" (top item in the navigation pane), then click Import... and select the CalloutRenumbering_EN.xslt file from disk.
3. Finish the Import workspace dialog by specifying the current or a new workspace as target and click OK.
After closing the Options dialog by clicking OK, you will not instantly see any changes in the workspace. That's intended.

Use of the Automatic Renumbering for callouts
When selecting a callout or by selecting the callout tools in the toolbox you will now see an additional button in the Properties tool bar:

For renumbering a series of existing callouts in an illustration, you only have to select the first callout to be changed (the one with no. 2 in the example below).
Then press the button for renumbering callouts - and enter the new value for the selected callout as explained in the dialog box:

As a result, all callouts will be scanned and renumbered to accordingly to rebuild a sequence of numbered callouts (changing #1 and #2 in this example):
