Hello everyone:

On behalf of the CorelDRAW team, I’d like to thank everyone in the community for their feedback on the new CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2017. We’ve been pleased to hear your thoughts regarding the enhancements we’ve made, and I’d also like to take an opportunity to address some of the questions we’ve seen in the forums.

First, you may have looked at your calendar and asked, “has it been two years already?” And you’d be correct that we released version 2017 just slightly more than a year after the release of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X8. Moving to an accelerated release cycle, we’re now in the position to give you access to innovations faster and address your requests more quickly than ever before. As new technologies seem to be coming at an increasing pace, a yearly release enables us to quickly add support for the cutting edge tools and hardware we think will deliver the biggest benefits to your workflow. The world of tech is changing faster than ever, and we’ll be introducing CorelDRAW releases more frequently to keep you up to date.

I’d also like to confirm that with this change, we’ve adopted a new naming convention based on the year of the product’s release. 2017 is a full version of the suite and updates introduced during the product’s lifecycle will continue to be referred to as “dot” releases.

In terms of innovation, we think you’re going to be impressed with the changes we’ve made to the new suite. CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2017 offers you support for the latest technologies including an advanced stylus and touch-enabled devices, the Microsoft Surface Dial, and Ultra HD 5K monitors. We’ve also responded to your requests to make it simple to bring back your X6, X7, and X8 workspaces. And we’ve made dramatic changes to node editing, so it’s easier than ever for you to work with and edit your designs.

But beyond these updates, we’re particularly excited to introduce LiveSketch, the industry’s first drawing tool that’s powered by artificial intelligence. LiveSketch interprets your hand-drawn strokes and allows you to transform the creativity of free-form sketching into precise vector curves. Designed for use with a pen, but also compatible with your mouse, LiveSketch offers an enjoyable and natural drawing experience that brings a new, tactile dimension to a vector-based environment. Shapes now respond to you in ways that were never possible before. Almost like clay, you can now create vectors that are malleable and organic.

We know you’ve trained yourself to think of your designs in terms of math – geometric shapes, polylines, and Bezier curves. And while these are the tools of your trade, we also know that many of you still choose to start your designs on paper and then recreate them in CorelDRAW. As powerful as vector graphics are, most of us still formulate our ideas and connect with our creativity by simply picking up a pen and sketching it out. We understand that you can never underestimate the power of a doodle. In this is a new environment, technology disappears, so nothing gets between you and your creativity.
