Esta imagen fue solamente parte de uno de los retos en los foros de CorelDraw.com, así que no es una pieza terminada (aunque casi lo está). El reto fue representar cristal sólo con vectores.
Me tomó unas cuatro o cinco horas terminarlo (tuve que estar experimentando), pero me gustó el resultado final.
Re-tracé un viejo papel tapiz setentero para el fondo; luego usé unos objetos con mezclas para la parrilla sobre él. El texto fue otro cuento: usé muchos duplicados; a algunos les apliqué un contorno grueso y estos contornos los convertí en curvas para darle algo de grosor a las letras. A uno de esos duplicados le apliqué un Lente de Ojo de Pez para distorsionar la imagen del fondo. Creé luego un pincel de Medios Artísticos para los bordes del texto, sólo para simular distintos reflejos, tanto obscuros como claros. Luego de usar algunos duplicados más al 100% con diferentes rellenos de color degradado y transparencias, les aventé encima algunas formas rectangulares con transparencia degradada, las cuales intersequé con las letras, para dar la impresión de reflejos de cristal. Los toques finales fueron los destellos y las sombras, las cuales dibujé con la herramienta de Mano Alzada. Algunas mezclas me ayudaron a crear los destellos tenues en las partes más brillantes de las letras.
This one was only part of a challenge in the Draw forums, so it is not a finished piece, but it's almost there. The challenge was to depict glass using only vectors.
This one took me about four or five hours (I had to experiment a bit), but I liked the end result. I retraced some old seventies pattern for the background, then used some shapes with blends for the grill on top of it. The text was another story: used a lot of duplicates; some of them I thick-outlined and the outlines were converted to curves to give some thickness to the letters. One of the dupes was filled with a fish eye Lens. I created a custom Artistic Media Brush for the borders of the text, just to simulate different reflections, dark and bright. After using some other duplicates at 100% with different colour gradients and transparencies, I threw in some almost rectangular shapes with gradient transparency to them and intersected them with the letters, so they would give the impression of reflections. The final touches were the shadows and highlights, which were drawn with the Freehand tool. Some blends helped me create the subtle sparks in the brighter areas of the letters.
