When I start to scroll down the font list it freezes for about 10 secs then starts then freezes and so on .... is this a hardware issue ???
Thanks
Mike
Is this in Draw or AftetShot?
Draw ...... was ok until I upgraded to win 10
Not one that will make you happy. I set my filters only for installed and system fonts and turn off uses font for display. I use CFM to search for fonts.
Thanks for your reply David ..... Is it possible to search in CFM and choose the font to use .....or do I just get the name in CFM and go back to the font list and choose from there...... hope that makes sense ...lol...
You find the font is CFM and choose from Draw, however the changes in Draw to the way it displays fonts in the list makes it faster. It's old school but it works fast.
I'm really sorry David but I don't understand what u mean .....or am I a bit thick .....lol...
"You find the font is CFM and choose from Draw"
In CFM you can set a line of copy scroll through and find a font, install it if it's not installed. Then you may need to close DRAW open Draw and you file and select the font in Draw.
Do you know how to change how the font drop down displays a font?
Thanks David ...... I think I know how to change the drop down display....... but not sure what you mean
"Then you may need to close DRAW open Draw and you file and select the font in Draw" ??????
My drop down displays the font how they look.....is that correct ?
Thanks again
Ok once you set test copy and found your font in CFM. Make sure the font is loaded and minimize CFM.
Open Draw select a text tool, there is a funnel, that represents the filters, select installed and system fonts only.
From the drop down you can turn off using the font to display the font name. That will make the drop down work faster.
Within the CorelDRAW application itself the font list has view options that can be turned on/off. The default shows a font sample preview at the bottom of the menu. I always turn off that option; it slows everything way down. You can change the menu to display only text-based names for fonts. That also speeds up performance. There is a list of options to the right to filter what is shown in the font menu. You'll get the fastest performance by only showing fonts installed directly into the operating system. Unchecking those options and allowing the menu to show all fonts referenced from Corel Font Manager (such as folders of font collections not installed in the OS) will slow down menu performance. If you are only seeing fonts installed directly in the OS and the menu is still hanging then you'll need to inspect the fonts you have installed. Quite a lot of fonts in the marketplace are TERRIBLE. Clip art fonts are the worst offenders. They will absolutely hang the crud out of the font menu if fonts are set to preview a sample of the font in the font name.
Thank you I have turned off the sample font view and it scrolls good ...
Glad it worked, CFM is just not a modern font management. It works OK but only if you turn off the features that were it's selling points.
