I have 3924 font divided in different categories. most of the fonts are in more than one category (for example Ampersan is in Grafici, HandWrite and Sport Category).
Whan I installed corel font manager 2018 the categories appeared but paractically all the fonts lost the links between them and the categories.
I contacted Corel and I asked for a solution.
First step start Corel Font Manager 2018 with F8 key...
In this way I lost everything even the categories.
Second Step copy the files in database directory from 2017 into folder of 2018
In this way when I started corel Font Manager 2018 windows gives error message and the application was closed.
The support technician told me that I ahve to make again all categories and all the links between them and the fonts.
I wrote them that this is unacceptable.
I am waiting for answers... when there is something new I will update this discussion,
Thanx to evrybody and be careful with font manager 2018 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today I received the answer that I have to make ahain the categories and rebuild manually all the links between fonts and categories (3924 fonts ..... unbelievable)
I ahve asked again for a solution. A little tool that export from CFM2017 databese and import in CFM2018 database...
I am waiting.
Answer today is still the same.
Make again all the works (propably weeks of time) by hand.
I asked again for a contact of a higher support.
- Unfortunately, it's impossible in the current stage to export the structure of the FontManager 2017 into 2018.
My answer:
In CFM X8 and 2017 they gave us the opportunity to build personal categories (in Italian language you can see it under “Le mie Raccolte”… it continues after Didot etc)
And then you can take a font a “link” it to more than one category (and this is very useful for the everyday job because of the integration in CDraw)
As you can see the font 321 impact is “linked” to 5 personal categories (but it’s only in one directory)
That was the main reason that made me switch form Nexus Font Manager to CFM
Now I think you can imagine all the time that was spent for 3924 fonts
This is a feature that is described in your help online of CFM
As you can see with this method you can’t divide fonts in simple folders because a font must be located in many folders (one copy for every personal category)
Ss I told you a solution must be found from the development team (as I told you I can give everything you need)
I don’t think it’s impossible for them to build a tool that import all this informations from CFM2017 database and import in in CFM2018.
I also know that takes time but CFM gave this feature in X8 (and then CFM2017 worked perfectly well)… it’s not my fault that doesn’t work in CFM2018
It’s your problem and you have the power to find a solution (not me or other users like myself)
Take your time but please find a solution… consider that we use CD for work not for playing.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and the support
Update Corel said to me... that to rebuild the catalog is the solution... I ask them a contact with development or commercial... I am thinking about speaking with some lawyers friends of mine...
Hello, would you please be contact me via direct mail (sharon.potts@corel.com) from an email address I can reach you at? If possible, I would like to obtain copies of your 2017 and 2018 font databases so that the development team may review them.
Thank you, Sharon
