Masking using channels

Hello everyone,

I've been trying to use Photo-paint to accomplish the effect used in this photoshop tutorial to use channels to to mask difficult objects but I can't seem to find the right way to do this.  I'm hoping someone can  help me accomplish this effect in Photo-paint.

Thank you in advance for your input.

  • although it was not exactly same steps and commands, all what you need is an alpha channel. You can start on Image/split channelñs to RGB (or CMYK or what you need) choose the image with higher contrast, (you can edit it, crease contrast, adjust bright, erase portions, etc), then select all, copy and return to the original image.

Now, create an aplha channer (under the channels docker) then paste the image as the alpha channel. Accordingh of what you need maybe you need to invert the image (image menu / transform / invert) because you should remember that "black" on the alpha channel meand "hidden" while "white means "visible.
