Trying to re-install DVD Corel GS X8 after trying Corel GS 2018. I uninstalled Corel GS 2018, and then manually deleted all Corel directories in (1) Roaming, (2) Program Files, (3) Program Files X86, and (4) Program Data. Then I did a complete cache dump (CCleaner) and rebooted.
Tried again to install DVD of Corel GS X8, but keeps giving me the error "You cannot install this product because another version is already installed."
Clearly, I'm missing some old Corel files that need to be deleted. Help!!
Try "Repair" from the setup menu, instead of "Install".
I checked. The X8 setup routine doesn't give me the "repair" option. It goes right into normal setup. And then fails with "You cannot install this product because another version is already installed." But there is no other version installed.
Strange. You should get a window that looks something like thisHaven't got X8 installed but it is similar in all versions. It definitely sounds like there are remnants of one or more versions, and the fact that you manually had to delete a lot of stuff indicates that you have not been able to uninstall X8 or 2018 properly, and there may be information somewhere that the version is still installed.Unfortunately I do not know where to search or how to fix it.
Hi drizzy77,
Uninstall all of the MSVC Runtimes (as described attached image) on your system. Then restart and try to install the CDGS package again. I solve this problem on few machines via this method but there may be a risk.
The same topic posted in the X8 forum: "You cannot install this product because another version is already installed.".
This has been asked a number of times in the past couple of years, and the answers from Corel have changed somewhat over time.
I have done the install by doing the dance with MSVC++ redistributables, but I was able to get Corel support to get me a version of X8 that I was able to install without doing that dance.
