So Im new to working with text boxes so idk if this is possible or not, but it seems like there's no efficient way to go about it.
I want to achieve something like this:
Ive done it already, obviously. but each header is just artistic text placed between paragraph text boxes. It,d be a lot more efficient and consistent if I could just have the headers as a part of the text box. But when I add a gradient it affects the entire text box. Now I could probably achieve my desired affects but for subsequent sections Id have to customize the gradient because of the text length variations.
Is there a way to save special headers like I have here and just add them into a text box?
This can be done with all paragraph text and maybe styles.
Select the text characters with the Text tool first, and then add the fill and outline that you want.

What I observe is that a gradient fill applied to a specific textrange is not "scaled to the selected textrange".
It's more like "scaled to the entire paragraph text shape". So, the part of the gradient that a particular textrange gets depends on where it is within the text frame.
This fill:
produces this result when applied to specific textranges:
Am I missing something? Is there a different way to apply a gradient fill to specific textranges to produce the desired result?
JordanEC, I see now that you were looking for a little more automated way to get the same fill in several places in a Paragraph text, but that is not possible with my suggestion. Sorry.Forgot to check yesterday, John (this is not something I use regularly, or should I say, ever), but when I try now I can apply different fills to different parts of the paragraph text block, even within the same sentence.True though that a fountain fill seems to be scaled to the text box by default and it takes some tweaking to get it right for each part of the text.
How did you get it to affect just the Headers? Is there a hears tool that I dont know about? I just set the selected text to a different size or font.
