Most of the time my designs print pretty good on my Epson p800. Every now and then a new design will print with parts of it having jagged edges. When zoomed in on the screen, it looks great at any magnification. I'm not too computer savy, but I have been working with Coreldraw for 6 or 7 years, most recently on x8. I have read other similar complaints, but I'm kind of stumped.
I'm surprised there has been no comments for a month. Anyway, I have a design with about 30 different objects that overlap each other. Looks great on the monitor. When printed, some areas are sharp and other areas are jagged. Now, when I separate all 30 objects and make a print, each object prints fine. Reassemble all 30 to the final design and when printed, once again some sections are sharp and some are jagged. There has to be a simple solution. Right?
all vector shapes?
Text?
How does it look in wireframe view?
I think I have narrowed it down to inside drop shadows. I don't understand why some drop shadows print fine for some things and not for others. They are all inside shadow. I will continue to experiment and see what happens.
Please let us know the results. As I said in my first post, some effects (transparencies/shadows for example) can not be "translated" to other file formats or to your printer, and therefore they have to be converted to something that can be, in this case a very crude bitmap.Did you try printing as bitmap?I would love to see a file.Would be interesting to see what happens here, and also if I can find out what's causing it.
First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to help me with this problem. I have tried to upload a zip file but am having trouble with the process. Could I send you the file through email?
Here is a jpeg photo of a very large and complicated file that took weeks to build and prints beautifully. 100's of objects, drop shadows, etc. But, if I copy an object from this file into a new file I sometimes end up with jaggies. Grrr
Cool!I assume you are not building this in Draw, since copy-paste makes this jagginess appear?Copying from one Draw file to another (same version of Draw) should not affect quality in any way.Can you upload to a free upload service, or maybe to OneDrive or Google Drive, and then post a link.
No, actually this was built entirely in draw x8 starting from the first line to the last. The 2 first samples I posted came from this rocket launch file. I just printed that file again and it looks great. When I copy one of the lamps, (2nd photo) into another x8 file, it has jaggies. I just can't figure out what is going on.
I am also having trouble trying to upload a zip file (all done through my phone). I will take your advice and try to upload to the cloud and post a link. Will have to wait till this weekend to have a friend help me with that. I'm not too computer savy.
I did try printing as a bitmap and it has even more jaggies. I'll keep trying different things.
Good morning Kurt, what would happen if you place the outline of those objects at the very top of the entire drawing... only the outline...
I'm not sure what you mean. Place an object with no fill and just the outlines? I'm beginning to think it's a glitch with x8 and I might just have to live with it.
You should be able to upload a file to for example WeTransfer, Kurt, and then post a link here.Give it a try, I would really like to see what's causing this jagginess.
OK, I will do that. I would love to see what you think the issue may be. Thanks
