We are a current subscriber using the X8 suite. According to the EULA, we are allowed to install the suite on up to 3 devices as long as only one copy is in use at a time. We have desktops at our shop and some laptops for working on projects at home when necessary.
We just received an email saying that we were allowed to upgrade to the 2018 Suite, but when installing on the second device, I received a warning about installing on multiple devices, and upon reading the EULA for the 2018 suite, it appears that we are now only allowed to install on one device per license. Is this true?
I just want to make sure we aren't doing anything in violation of the EULA and will stop changing over the software if that is the case.
Thanks
I never understand why companies do this - instantly alienate their loyal customer base with moves like this. I too fall into the category of "small percentage of CorelDRAW customers around the world install the software on more than one device today" .. and I am surprised to hear its a small percentage.. I would think its most CDGS users!I for one will be sticking with 2017 until this is resolved. I bought another licence last year as my son occasionally helps out in the office and my 3 'seats' are already being used by me. I also have a small vinyl cutter linked to an old PC just to run this, and we use one of the new seats on this too. I am certainly not investing in 5 new licences for 2018 and i'm contemplating cancelling my Premium Service subscription unless this is resolved.
Those having more than one install of a previous version and also on upgrade program/protection may want to check their Corel account in the registered products section. You might have two (or perhaps even three if you used all three allowed installs) CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2018 serial numbers listed in there, one as mentioned in the e-mail notifying you of the new version (if you got one) and another one. I just happened to come across in the registered products section when looking up the serial number for another product. If this is meant to ensure that you can indeed install CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2018 on the same number of computers as with v2017 then it could have been communicated a bit more clearly on how to achieve this.
I've had the upgrade program (was called something else before) since it started. Cost me 99 bucks a year and had to wait 2 years to get a major update which was only a buck or two under the cost of what anybody else paid for an upgrade. I got 2017 and then a year later that 99 bucks got me one of largest version upgrades I've seen from Corel and I can still use it on my main box and my tablet with no problems. Maybe my hillbilly math is off, but it looks to me like I saved a hundred bucks on a major upgrade. If the feature and freebie difference between 2018 and the next one is anything like it is between 2017 and 2018 I think that's a bargain, especially for I tool I rely on every day.
