I am using CD2018Suite on a 2018 Microsoft Surface Pro with the i5 and 8GB of RAM. I have used CorelDraw since version 3 and have not had many issues. 2018 seems to have an issue with Powerclip. When I go to edit the clip (embed an image into a shape) and then when I finish editing, Corel takes an excessive amount of time to finish and allow me to do my next task. It takes roughly 20 seconds after clicking the Finish Editing icon. This is extremely frustrating as I have not had this issue with CDX7. Is this a bug in the 2018 version?
Is this when you're first creating the powerclip or if you're editing the powerclip.
Hi David,
Either way. It's when I click on the "Finish Editing" button and it's "saving" the changes within the powerclip. It takes 15-20 seconds to finish what it's doing before I can do any other task.
Not really a solution but you know you can edit the clip without going into editing mode, don't you?Alt+click the content and you will find that it gets selected and you can edit as an ordinary object. Not practical with more complicated clips though.Would it be possible to share the file by the way, so we can have a look at it?
Yes this is a known issue.
Thank you. I just performed a test. I have a Surface Pro 4 i7 as my work computer and a Surface Pro 6 i5 (which is actually faster) as my freelance computer. The file I am having issues with is a rather large file with several pages and images in it. I tested this on both machines.
I created a new file and created a square. I important an image and then placed that within the square using the powerclip function. I then clicked the "Edit Powerclip" button, resized the image, and ended the editing session and both performed just fine with no lag.
It is just the large file that there is a lag when finishing editing a powerclip. Almost like the file is checking every image within itself.
I hope this helps the developers find a solution. In the meantime I'll have to break my file into several files to keep them small to alleviate the lag.
