My Corel Draw 2018 currently won't open. I discovered this just before the holidays and now I am back trying to figure it out. I subscribe to the constant upgrade program and I believe I remember seeing an upgrade happen around 12/27, the day before I noticed the opening issue. I first noticed on my main PC that the program wouldn't open and then opened my laptop and I it would so I had been working on that for several days. It showed that microsoft updates had occurred and to take effect a restart was necessary. I blocked the restart and continued working in Corel until it restarted on its own overnight last night I can't open the program on either computer (PC-Windows 7 & Laptop Windows 10). It gets hung up on initializing user interface, then a window pops up with notice that Corel is no longer working and they will let me know if they come up with solution. In the mean time, I am trying to get someone from Corel to call me back with some answers or tricks to get me back up and running. Does anyone have info on this issue?
BTW, this happened when I tried to open my CD 17 too

You say in the video that you saw a message about the shell extension - this is the module which displays thumb-nails. Have you tried removing that from Control Pane then putting it back with a "CGS Repair"?
Have you tried restarting CGS while holding down F8 - this resets your workspace, but it's a standard debug step.
Also try starting Font Manager while holding down F8 to reset font databases.....
Thanks. The font manager database reset did the trick. I am still having issues with my CD2018 on my PC. It won't let me reinstall or repair the program. I think I will have to get my PC guys on to fix. When I try to reinstall it says Error 1311.Source file not found: c/program files/coreldraw graphics suite 2018/set up/misi/Common_x64.cal. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. Then it has a retry or cancel button option. Even though I have uninstalled CD2018 and when you search for the program it doesn't show up, you can see the folder in the windows program, it doesn't look like it is all there. I can't actually find the program application. I think it will need to be manually deleted to do a fresh install, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to be confident to do that on my own. Thank you again.
OK - so we're part way there.
I would remove CGS 208 (while connected to the internet, so your unistall is logged with Corel. Then I would download ccleaner (free version) and run a registry check, I would then try downloading CGS2018 again from the Corel web site and reinstalling from that
Agreed. Over the years I have had to do exactly that, usually after a major Windows update. Some .dll gets corrupted too often.
Update. CD2018 would not uninstall because the computer didn't even recognize that it was installed for some reason. My Bask.com computer tech people clean up the residual files that were preventing a clean install and they reinstalled CD2018. First attempt to open after after clean install was a fail. I did the font manager database reset and all is good now. Happy Happy!!!
