I have tried renaming the Font Folder, I have reset Corel to factory, (really annoying) and now just before the file opens I get the message, 'This file originated from another program", then it tries to open the file and the whole program just shuts. All my files originated in Corel X8 or 2018. The only thing that has changed was a bloody auto bios update by Dell. What could this have changed. The computer is a Dell i5-6400 cpu @ 2.7, 8gb of ram, 64 bit windows10. I have a NVIDA GTX 1050Ti video card.
I am going to miss a deadline if I can't get this to work soon.
Thanks to all who can help
Iain
That message can be associated with hatch fills in the file - Weird Error Message in X8.
I don't know about the crashing part; haven't seen that.
Do you have a file that consistently causes this problem, and that you would be willing to share? You could send it to me directly if it's something that you would prefer not to post on the forum.
Hi there Eskimo, I noticed that it is indeed one file, I also noticed for some weird reason this file had is a .X8. The whole thing was created in 2018. I have attached the offending file, I haven't time to open every file I am working on, there are a few, but this one I was working on late yesterday and it was fine.
I think I uploaded the file
Thank you, Iain
I don't see a file.
If you are trying to upload directly to the forum, be aware that the software doesn't accept .CDR files. Putting it in a .ZIP file works.
Another alternative is to put the file somewhere on-line and share a link to access it.
Thank you. Try this. www.dropbox.com/.../Google Think ver1 copy.cdr
That file opens for me in 2018 and 2019; no crash.
Thats disappointing. I am at work and it crashes on my work computer too. I haven't had any problem with other files so far, just that one. I wonder what would cause that in just one file. Would you mind saving it as something else and sending it back to me. The strange thing is I can have two other files open and it's not like this file won't open it actually shuts down the whole program. Thanks for your help once again.
Bad news is that I am at a different machine now, and that file crashes both 2019 and 2018.
Trying to import it into an open document also crashes it.
This evening, I will see if I can open it on my home machine.
Thank you so much for trying to help. I have bought you a cyberspace beer.
I can sympathize. It has to be a nightmare to have content suddenly become completely unusable!
