Hi,
I have both CDGS2018 and CDGS 2019 installed on the same computer. When I am on Coreldraw2018, and I try to edit a bitmap image it now opens Corel Photopaint 2019 instead of the 2018 version of photopaint like it used to. How or what can I do to change this so that when I am in Coreldraw2018, editing a bitmap image opens Photopaint 2018 not Photopiaint 2019? Would appreciate thoughts, tips, suggestions...
I am not ready to move up to CDGS2019 yet and give up my CDGS2018 altogether.
Thks,
huh?
I had a smilar problem
I wanted X6 photopaint.I wanted X8 DRAW.I wanted image displays (not icons) in file explorer.SO-replaced the X8 shell extension with the X6 shell extension.-used ALWAYS OPEN WITH x8 on .cdr files.-saved .cdr files as version 16.
Strangely, the .cdr images showed but the files were X8.
Phil
Phil,
Thanks for jumping in. If I may ask, how did you replace the shell exension?
After replacing the shell extension, from within CDX8, does it open PPX6 when you edit a bitmap image?
Huh
The shell extension you are talking about allows a "preview" of the .cdr file in winodws explorer?
rgds,
YEs -- for files of that type. That's why I have to save .cdr files from within DRAW 18 as DRAW 16 files. However, they still open in DRAW 18 because I chose this option in OPEN WITH.
So the shell extension is also version specific? That is if I have 2019 as the most recent version installed, a preview of a .cdr file created in CD2018 will not show?
Yes, each version has their on "Shell extension" btw you can use other previious an it should woks too. The biigest difference could b the qaulity, specially if you use older versions (ie the preview of X3 if smaller than latest versions)
There're several ways to enable the preview on Windows Explorer. The re-install of the Corel ShellExtension is one, but also you can associate CDR files on Windows to the version you want (yes, same than the associate CTP file extension to PhotoPaint in order to choose version). It's easy and it work for most users. But also, there's an other option: on the Control Panel, choose "repair" program. Or just reinstall the program
Ariel,
Thanks.
