I wish to open CorelDraw 8 files in CD 2018. The fonts/text in the files are gibberish. However, by: Selecting text with mouse/Text/Encode/Other encoding/changing current encoding from 1256 (ANSI Arabic) to 1255 (ANSI Hebrew) ... the fonts are 75% okay.
Instead of selecting changing each text box separately and changing it from 1256 (ANSI Arabic) to 1255 (ANSI Hebrew), can one change the current (default) text encoding permanently?
Also, 1255 (ANSI Hebrew) doesn't seem to be the right encoding for Corel Draw 8 (not X8) only 75% okay.
Maybe you can try change code page when opening file
Mek, thank you for the suggestion.
When opening the files, I changed the code page to 1255 (ANSI Hebrew). All of the paragraph text boxes changed from gibberish to 75% Hebrew and 25 % gibberish, but I couldn't change the font of the text to a different one.
When I changed the encoding on each text box separately, I was able to change the font.
It seems the original coding is 1255 (ANSI Hebrew).
I wonder if it can be done with a macro? Mek?
Try to use code page 862 (28598, 38598, 20424) you should find them on same drop down menu.
Regarding to fonts - you can use Find and Replace feature or it could be done via macro (then more information would be required)
I tried all of the code pages that you suggested, but with no better results.
I may have to convert all of fonts to curves, or print as a pdf and open the files in CDR 2018.
I was able to open and edit the files using CDR X4 running on Windows XP.
After I saved them in CDR X4, the fonts were a still a bit faulty in CDR 2018.
