Has anyone else noticed the font list operated significantly slower in 2019 verses older versions? I am in X6 and can maneuver through my fonts exponentially faster than I can in this newer version of 2019. Same fonts, same machine. Consequently, I can work faster in X6 than I can in 2019...?
Big changes from X6 to 2019, started in X8. There is a new font manager, it gives you access to use all fonts even those not installed. IMO a bad idea for those with limited system resources, large font archives and or networked font storage.
You can configure it to behave more like a standard font manager then it's ok, that configuration is done in Draw through the filters and other settings.
Can you expound on what configurations you're talking about? I am on a network with other artist using same fonts so we must all have access to a fairly large archive simultaneously. I have had bad luck in the past with their font manager. Seems to slow me down rather than speed me up. Perhaps I haven't given it it's fair shot. I'd prefer for my fonts list to just work like it did in X6 and 2017.
I hear you Rick, I'm working from a tablet out of town with the grandkids. I will be in my office Sunday so I'll log on and see if I can get some captures and make sure you get the setting correct instead of from my memory.
Network configurations can help also, peer to peer networks seem to work best if the font folder is in the root of the archive drive.
Thanks David I would like to see your settings when you can. I just realized I am "not" on a true network system. I have all my fonts directly on my machine. I believe just the loading of them is extremely slow, even though I have the absolute most advanced size machine money could buy as of mid 2019.
What are your system specs? I'm assuming a desktop not a laptop.
Lenovo Legion Y740 i7-8750 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz 16GB RAM
Unfortunately laptop specs never live up to there specifications. The specs you show are what I use for my wifes office machine. More than likely it's the BUSS and or Hard drive speed on the laptop. If you work in CorelDRAW a great deal a desktop is a better investment.
Here are my settings for fonts, when working with fonts I keep CFM running, minimized and switch back and for t using CFM to browse fonts WAAAAY faster.
You also my wan to to try turning off all apps that you don't need.
