I have tried everything to make the marching ants appear when creating masks.
I can see the mask overlay but not the marching ants.
Is there already an update available for Corel Photopaint Home & Student?
Can I use the professional updates for the Home & Student version?
StefThib. We are aware of this issue in CorelDRAW Home and Student 2019. I have updated the internal issue reporting ticket with this forum thread.
As a workaround, could you try enabling 'Mask Overlay' from the Mask menu?

Maybe Corel should put this "workaround" link in the UPDATES section so people don't have to look all over the GD place for this since a simple HOTFIX could have just been provided easily by Corel. There are certain aspects of being in the software business, that just need to be common sense and paid attention too.
