As a 15 year user of the CorelDRAW graphics suite, I am used to using the <edit bitmap> feature allowing an embedded bitmap in CorelDRAW to be edited & saved by Corel Photo Paint.
This seems to be missing in the Mac version of CorelDRAW 2019 version for Mac. If this is indeed the case, it would be a blow as I use this feature a lot!
Does anyone else miss this?
(I'm running version 21.0.0.593 in a MacBook pro, using OS 10.14.4)
Yes, i have same issue.
Many features that streamline graphic workflow that make Corel so appealing have been lost in the Mac version.
Simple things like:
- Edit Bitmap (opens in Corel Photo Paint)- Alignment by key shortcuts - Displaying permanent screen icons for selected color fills/outlines- Right click outline colours- Barcode wizard - Macros and loading GMS scripts
The basic problem is , I think, that Edit Bitmap requires OLE to work. Not sure if that is directly transferrable to a Mac, might be difficult.
Hywel is correct, MacOS and OLE are strangers, and Edit Bitmap, in DRAW, does rely upon OLE to bring the bitmap into PP for editing, and returning the edited result to DRAW.
Is there any workaround for this? I'm tired of the whole 'Parallels/Windows' runaround - but really need this feature.
Nope - no decent reply for CorelDRAW. Right now, I’m sharing the bitmap with my iPad, editing it with Procreate and then importing it back to CorelDRAW - not very elegant but works
