Hi there. Both HQ's (1400KM apart) are experiencing this issues since upgrading to CorelDraw 2019. Whether we try to edit artistic or paragraph text, as soon as you doubleclick to edit text it de-selects and remove focus (selects the bounding box for the text). I'm also unable to create new artistic text, and as soon as I try to create paragraph text tho original problem persists.
UPDATE: I have narrowed down the problem to a custom command/toolbar.
Even when I reset my workspace to default and create the toolbar from scratch the problem reoccurs! Thus the problem is not the workspace, it's the custom toolbar/command bar, even when it's a new one created in CorleDraw2019 from scratch. Disable the custom toolbar in the imported workspace and the problem goes away.
I'm yet to narrow down whether it's a specific icon/command causing the issue as deadlines abound on this side and I don't have time to add them one by one and test.
Below is the custom toolbar though (menu text enabled so we can see if there are similarities).
There is some overlap between your toolbar and ours. They both share the 'place inside frame' button, and all the Align/Distribute tools.
Scarrott, when importing the workspaces you have provided above, I am not seeing Toolbars in the selection tree in the import dialog and there is an empty toolbar. It appears as if Toolbars have not been included in the workspace export.
Once imported, I am not experiencing the text editing issue described in this thread.
Can you confirm that these workspaces are the ones you are using? Were toolbars selected in the original export?
The empty toolbar is concerning, and may be a separate issue, but before pursuing it, I would like to confirm that toolbars were selected when exporting the workspace from the previous version.
Sharon
Hi Sharon. I don't think it's a workspace import issue. Even when creating our toolbar from scratch in Corel 2019 the problem reoccurs.
Agreed, but I would like to make sure we have all the commands that cause the issue captured. The more tests/scenarios that we have, the better.
Sharon,
The toolbar that scarrott posted a picture of includes "Auto Adjust".
That is a bitmap effect, and there are two Commands with the name, "Auto Adjust".
One of the two "Auto Adjust" Commands - just like its friend, one of the "Brightness/Contrast/Intensity" Commands - keeps the Text Tool from functioning correctly.
The dev team will want to check ALL of those bitmap effect Commands. The two that I have reported here are not the only ones that "break" the Text Tool in this way.
Actually, my toolbar doesn't include the Image Adjustment Lab button, it is the very similar looking 'Auto Adjust' button.

Thank you! I've edited my post to reflect that.
One of the Auto Adjust Commands is also toxic to the Text Tool.
