Hi there. Both HQ's (1400KM apart) are experiencing this issues since upgrading to CorelDraw 2019. Whether we try to edit artistic or paragraph text, as soon as you doubleclick to edit text it de-selects and remove focus (selects the bounding box for the text). I'm also unable to create new artistic text, and as soon as I try to create paragraph text tho original problem persists.
UPDATE: I have narrowed down the problem to a custom command/toolbar.
Even when I reset my workspace to default and create the toolbar from scratch the problem reoccurs! Thus the problem is not the workspace, it's the custom toolbar/command bar, even when it's a new one created in CorleDraw2019 from scratch. Disable the custom toolbar in the imported workspace and the problem goes away.
I'm yet to narrow down whether it's a specific icon/command causing the issue as deadlines abound on this side and I don't have time to add them one by one and test.
Below is the custom toolbar though (menu text enabled so we can see if there are similarities).
Would you mind exporting your workspace - just that toolbar - and sharing the exported .CDWS file?
You might have to wrap it in a zip file or rename the file extension to .zip; I don't know if the forum software will accept a .CDWS file for upload?
Can you take a look on my Workspace? I still having a lot of issues with the text tool.
I recreate it from scratch and it worked, but find out that I lost the ability to see the export/save status icon in the status bar
I attached the workspace files, I rename them as a .txt to be able to send them to you
This file is the one that I want to fix
CorelDraw 2019 Workspace.cdws.txt
This file is the one that I recreate from scratch after I uninstall
and re-install CorelDraw 2019 that is missing the Background Tasks Icon (export/save status) in the status barCorel 2019 Workspace from scratch.cdws.txt
I hope you can find the problem because I can not install 2019 on our other computers until it is working perfect.
Thank you for your help
I think that the problem with the Text Tool is being caused by having the "Sketch Pad" Command on your Standard Toolbar.
That is one of the bitmap effects Commands that seem to interfere with the Text Tool if they are on a visible toolbar.
You can completely delete that Command from that toolbar by right-clicking on the Sketch Pad button, then using Customize>Toolbar Item>Delete:
If I do that in your workspaces, then the Text Tool starts working again.
You are the Man!!! Sketch Pad was a tool that came by default with Corel that is why I thought that it was not the problem. Thank you
You're welcome! I'm glad to know it worked for you.
This was educational for me, as I didn't know that dragging a command off of a toolbar produced a different result than using Customize>Toolbar Item>Delete.
