My company just recently updated (saying "upgraded" would imply that what i have now is better) and now whenever I save a file regardless of if I created it or not it will remove the permissions for the other designers that I work with. In order to let them access the file to change or separate the file I must manually go in to the file properties and add "everyone" in the security tab. I have contacted Corel support about this and for the past 2 weeks they haven't given me anything that has worked so I figured I would open it up to the community to see if anyone has any ideas.
Potential fixes corel has given me:
1. It is some sort of "network issue"
-My networking seems to be working fine. The only program that does this is CorelDRAW 2019. Saving things in CorelDRAW 2017 works fine still and my co-workers can open the files.
2. Make sure you are saving it in the correct folder and make sure permissions are shared with everyone
-Felt a little insulted by this one honestly
3. Run the CorelDRAW as admin
-Doing this will result in an error "there was a problem sending the command to the program" and my files wont open.
4. Then I got this....
-"I am sorry to let you know that if you have not run the application as admin you are facing this issue with your operating system since your OS would have been damaged please contact your local technician for the inspection of stability of your OS."
After I told them that it still isn't working they had me run WinAudit and moved me on to "Level 2 support" where I pretty much have had to start all over...
TLDR: Saving a file in CorelDRAW 2019 removes "everyone" from my permissions and wont let anyone else on my network open my files. I am open to any suggestions if any one has ideas on what could be the problem.
Just wanted to post an update. This is the email I just got from Corel:
Anyone want to explain how this is helpful in the slightest? The problem that they aren't understanding is that I have done nothing different from when I used Corel 2017 yet I am getting different results. Different results that actively hinder me from doing my job optimally. I guess that is Corel 2019 in a nutshell.
Needless to say I am very displeased with Corel's support.
I agree with you entirely. I have also not changed the way I work, but CorelDraw 2019 is now changing my permissions because I don't save my files in public folders? That's total bs. My art folders are shared to everyone. cd2019 changes that upon save. Not acceptable. This causes horrid problems, as my coworkers scan my hard drive for next consecutive design numbers. If they can't see my files, I end up with duplicates, which is a royal pain to fix after the fact. Do better Corel.
kben or SDGART2, are you still experiencing this issue?
We have tried internally, using CorelDRAW 2019 Update 2, on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (both with all recent updates installed) and are no longer able to recreate the issue.
Your feedback would be appreciated.
Sharon
Yes, Everyday. I save something and my coworkers can no longer access it unless I unlock it manually.
SDGART2, would you be able to contact me by direct mail (sharon.potts@corel.com), so I can get full details of your configuration (OS, sharing specs, etc)?
Thank you, Sharon
At this moment, my coworkers can search my computer, (except one, which seems to be an entirely different issue)
hi, i have the same problem 2x computers 2x windows 10. Saving the cdr file on the first computer causes the second computer can't see the file. HomeUsers entry disappears. It wasn't there before. It happened a few days ago. Maybe Microsoft update? Other programs, e.g. photo-paint, do not have this problem.Help me :)
