It is now July and I still do not see any new bug fixes to correct the multitude of issues with this latest design of CorelDraw 2019. I have every current update installed and am wondering if the new owners(a hedge fund) even care about quality? I know I would definitely want to have people who use my products to be able to give glowing recommendations, but with 2019 it is becoming difficult to recommend it to my peers. While there have always been issues with Corel, particularly exporting as an EPS file, for the most part, the design aspects have performed as expected. But now there are a bunch of issues that make it difficult to convert to and I find I have to continue using 2018 to get reliable production done. This is the worst upgrade I have ever purchased from Corel and they should be ashamed they released it with it being so buggy! Any news on updates would be appreciated because I feel they sold me a lemon, and worse they keep dropping the upgrade price without any fixes available which have me concerned that they don't intend to fix it.
I do not deny that there are some problems in CorelDRAW 2019, particularly speed. In fact, there are bugs in all versions, the difference is that some may be relevant to you and the others pass unnoticed, as they do not affect your daily work.
I work with CorelDARW 2019 every day without problems, although I notice that particular font handling is not as fast as in previous versions.
What are the most important problems for you?
Its not everyday I work with CorelDRAW 2019, more for engineering graphics, but what's interesting where you say font handling is not as fast as previous versions I find with me its the opposite!
However I do not like the "animation" of stretching a node as if it was a rubber band following the cursor. I did get used to it however.
Occasionally my templates do not show in the welcome screen. Restarting CorelDRAW fixes that.
One of my biggest annoyances is how CorelDRAW exports to AutoCAD, curves even straight lines become splines! At a previous company I used CorelDRAW and AutoCAD equally. The graphic department uses Illustrator for the render and we import into CorelDRAW for estimation, then from CorelDRAW into AutoCAD for the engineering drawing and we have to deal with a mass of splines! Fortunately I can use the flatten command for the splines, but sometimes its a bit off.
I've tried CorelCAD thinking this might be better as DWG is meant to be native but importing into AutoCAD I still get the splines. CorelDRAW, as well as CorelCAD for engineering drawings is hopeless. The dimension tool is worthless, I have not figured out how to lock a vertical dimension without it flipping to horizontal and vice versa. I still haven't figured out how so set a default dimension style...and an object that is "dimensioned" is "locked".
I would love to have the AutoCAD cross hair cursor option in CorelDRAW...and decent dimensions, one can dream.
I would love to be able to switch units from American to metric on the fly!
I would love to be able to have CorelDRAW draw an outline around a group of objects without it being silly.
This is a draft of a neon art piece. The neon is mounted on a back panel. I had to draw a lot of joining lines to make the back panel - red circles.
A 5MB CorelDRAW file exported to Illustrator can become a 150MB ai file! Even larger if you have any drop shadows! Forget the export to ai, just export to pdf and be done with it, that's what I do.
end rant
Cross hair curser, tools menu, tools, options, tools, pick tool select cross hair curser.
Thank you David!! Damn after all these years...finally.
Cross that one off the list.
Next, export to DWG/DXF curves remain curves...
Don't be in too much of a hurry. You'll quickly find the crosshair cursor is missing a HECk of a lot of functionality that you take for granted with the normal cursor. It catches me out every time, I'm drawing a rectangle and tweak it, move it and then try to do something else only to find you're still with the rectangle tool as the cursor looks to all intents and purposes just like the pick tool. And there are some bugs that i've reported that only apply to the crosshair cursor, not the standard cursor, and because I'm about the only one of the beta testers that uses the crosshair the bugs get no traction and don't get fixed.
Yep!! Like you said and I changed it back
