It is now July and I still do not see any new bug fixes to correct the multitude of issues with this latest design of CorelDraw 2019. I have every current update installed and am wondering if the new owners(a hedge fund) even care about quality? I know I would definitely want to have people who use my products to be able to give glowing recommendations, but with 2019 it is becoming difficult to recommend it to my peers. While there have always been issues with Corel, particularly exporting as an EPS file, for the most part, the design aspects have performed as expected. But now there are a bunch of issues that make it difficult to convert to and I find I have to continue using 2018 to get reliable production done. This is the worst upgrade I have ever purchased from Corel and they should be ashamed they released it with it being so buggy! Any news on updates would be appreciated because I feel they sold me a lemon, and worse they keep dropping the upgrade price without any fixes available which have me concerned that they don't intend to fix it.
The find/replace still sucks, even after the second update. This makes my work incredibly slow and tedious, since I now have to replace colors manually. I can't seem to get the program to remember my default settings, although I'm constantly resetting and telling the program to use as default. The graphic issues are incredibly annoying, having the screen freeze while you're working on something. I find this version bulky and difficult to work with. At least they fixed the object manager so now I can get details on the fills/outlines. I could go on...
Okay maybe my frustration made it sound all bad, and it is not all bad. But first, the x and y position is off by 1.25 in on the x and -1.25 on the y. I can adjust it, but if I change the page size or go-between landscape and portrait it goes out of whack again, this is not something I should have to worry about, this should be a given!
The next issue I have is that if I edit a bitmap in Draw it will open up Photo-Paint 2018, not 2019.
Corel Trace has worked most of the time, but with the understanding, it will on occasion crash the whole program and with the amount I have used 2019 that is far too often for my taste.
When I first apply transparency effect the busy icon seems to stay on for quite a long time. More of an annoyance than a bug perhaps but that is time that is wasted. That may be part of the startup process as many of the functions seem to be delayed when initially used.
I cannot apply extrude or block shadow effects to Textshapes without first converting them to curves. I don't understand why, but it works just fine in 2018.
Corel does as Ariel mentioned go a lot slower when loading the fonts. That may not be a bug, but it is annoying.
These are the issues I found just using it for the first hour!
There are, however, a lot of potentially cool features which is why I bought it and just recently discovered that you can now use bitmap effects on vectors which I consider cool, but I wonder on the practicality and how it will translate to the finished jobs. Time will tell. I am going to attempt to dive into the programming side and see if there are any issues that come up beside the x and y position issue which indirectly affects the programming side.
Did you check under Tools and the second one down is where the placed the Save Options as Default. I missed this at first because I was using the Settings wheel under the menus to set options but it didn't retain them and then I found that and it seems to work just fine. At least so far!
Thank you David!! Damn after all these years...finally.
Cross that one off the list.
Next, export to DWG/DXF curves remain curves...
I played with the programming side and found a glitch in the applybitmapeffect method. You can apply the effect, but you cannot adjust the settings and it seems to be consistent across all the different applybitmapeffects. That is just the first thing I found that makes the programming aspect kind of limited and I wasted a whole half hour on figuring it out, and then went searching and found others who ran into this issue. I count on macros to create a lot of shortcuts and if I can't rely on being able to program them then it becomes that much more unusable.
