Anyone using a rig with newer AMD processors and AMD video cards? I'm getting ready to build a new rig and have seen several posts relating to problems with AMD. I'm currently using an old Intel 4770K and RX 580. I occasionally get some unusual artifacts if I tab out and back in. I'll insert a pic. I'm contemplating the latest AMD Ryzen and the RX 5700. It's the best bang for the buck if it WORKS.
NO AMD, NO AMD! The best results for CD are the i7 or 9 platform I'm using 64 GB of RAM and 6 GB NVidia display card. 2019 CD and PP are stable just serious design issues.
We, too, may be blaming AMD for our troubles. My systems is rock solid. I have an NVidia graphics card. My cohort, however, has an AMD video card and her systems crashes or "bombs", as she says, constantly. Been this way for years. We've now convinced the owner to replace that system. Our tech guru is putting a system together. He likes to start from scratch so as to not get bloatware. Says he's not using AMD anymore. We'll see how it goes.
If I had a system that "bombed constantly", and I thought the culprit was an AMD video card, then I would install an NVIDIA card in the same system and see if it continued to "bomb constantly".
It's amazing what common sense can do.
I've been on these forums since they were all text. NO AMD, PERIOD! I strongly recommend NO Xeon processors.
Myron check the brand of main boards between your two systems. Sometimes support for AMD cards is provided via a different MB. That may be an issue also.
I can tell you that all my top of the line clients use the i9 now withb32 or 64 gb of ram. 3D renderings systems were using Xeon processors but are being replaced with i9.

May have been!
