Anyone using a rig with newer AMD processors and AMD video cards? I'm getting ready to build a new rig and have seen several posts relating to problems with AMD. I'm currently using an old Intel 4770K and RX 580. I occasionally get some unusual artifacts if I tab out and back in. I'll insert a pic. I'm contemplating the latest AMD Ryzen and the RX 5700. It's the best bang for the buck if it WORKS.
It's amazing what common sense can do.
I've been on these forums since they were all text. NO AMD, PERIOD! I strongly recommend NO Xeon processors.
Myron check the brand of main boards between your two systems. Sometimes support for AMD cards is provided via a different MB. That may be an issue also.
I can tell you that all my top of the line clients use the i9 now withb32 or 64 gb of ram. 3D renderings systems were using Xeon processors but are being replaced with i9.

Yes! It's just not a very expensive experiment to perform, and one might actually learn something useful from it.
It's not like the bad old days when a failed video driver install could have you breaking out the floppy disks to perform a complete reinstall of the OS and all applications. Been there, done that!
