For the past few months I have not been able to open .ai files created with the most recent version of Adobe Illustrator. I opened a ticket with tech support and they are COMPLETELY USELESS. It doesn't help that they don't speak and understand English.
The files I can't open will open and close just fine with Illustrator. However, they just hang when I try to open in Coreldraw 2019. I have all the latest patches loaded and I have uninstalled and reinstalled Coreldraw. If I open these files with Illustrator and save them to a legacy format then Coreldraw will open the file. This shows that they are NOT compatible with ai files like they advertise. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS BUG COREL???????
I have no idea what type of work you do but Corel and Illustrator have NEVER been 100% compatible. It's impossible as the two applications handle transparency completely differently.
these are simple files, nothing but simple objects. there are no fills or transparencies to deal with. if i open with illustrator and save as a legacy format, then cd will read it.
If the files are as you say simple then it may be that 2019 being a year old has an older version AI filter. That may be the casecs8nce the latest version of AI was released as used 7 months after CorelDRAW.
Professionals are of course expected to know that.
I do know that, that is why I asked the question as to WHEN Corel was planning on fixing it.
With the next release usually.
