I could not Drop Shadow to work at all on Corel 2020, a photo I had cutout, I had to drag it into Corel 2017 to drop a shadow

I am working in Corel Version 22.0.0.412.  I cut the back ground out of a photo.  I have been doing this for years in earlier versions.  $ little "boxes" show up, but no shadow.
