I can't get my default font to stick.
I use Calibri as my default font, but now Raleigh Md BT over-rides the default setting.
I change the font to Calibri, select "Save Settings as Default". But when I select the text tool, it reverts to Raleigh.
When I try to use the "Change Document Default" dialog, it doesn't allow me to use Calibri, or ANY other font. It always goes back to Raleigh Md BT.
Really odd behavior. Any clues???
ADDED: I un-installed Raleigh fonts and rebooted. Now I'm getting the same "over-ride" behavior, but this time from Ariel font. And the Ariel font continually defaults to Uniform Fill so that the letters are entirely black squares, no letters just black squares. No matter what I do to try to make a different default font (Calibri, Swiss, etc), Corel rejects it and forces me to use Ariel with all-black uniform fill.
Thanks everyone. I couldn't think of a good way to expand my explanation, so I've created a screen-capture video, too large apparently to upload, so Dropbox link is here:

In that video, it appears to me that you have the BACKGROUND for Artistic text to, by default, be a uniform fill of black.
If you want to see what the default Character properties for new Artistic text objects are in the document, try checking in the styles docker (default object properties - Artistic Text - Character properties).
If it shows there as "Uniform fill", then change it there to no fill. That will change the default for new Artistic text shapes created in that document. You could then right-click on the style set name, then save that as the default for new documents.
What I just described there is a lot like what I describe in the thread I linked to earlier; just not for the Background property. So, you could refer to that for a better description of the procedure.
That did it !!! You're the best.
But I thought that "Save Settings as Default" was a blanket save for ALL settings?

You set the default for Fill. You didn't set the default for Background for text characters.
Aside from that, I'm not sure if something weird was going on when you were trying to set the Fill for new objects to be "No Fill".
I would point out that "Save Settings as Default" only comes into play with what happens when new documents are created.
I really like using the Styles docker for this, because I think it is a much more transparent way of seeing - and changing - and setting as defaults for new documents - the default object properties.
Another thing that can be useful in the Styles docker is the ability to export and import style sheets.
You can set up particular default object properties (or regular styles or style sets) in one document, and then import them into another document to use them there.
Style sets are a GREAT way to handle formatting of Dimensions. They have so many properties that it's a right pain to do it manually, over and over again.
