Change Default font size

When I start typing in a new document the default is Arial size 24. When I click on the size tool and resize to what I want (12) it works until I start a new line of text somewhere else on the document and it flips back to size 24. How do I change it to default to size 12 when I launch a new document?

    Select the Artistic Text Tool (F8), before you start typing on the page, go to the Property Bar and change the point size to 12pt. A dialog "Change Document Defaults" will come up and you will be able to choose whether you would like it to be the default for Artistic, Callout, Dimension and Paragraph Text.
