CorelDraw mac 2020

I have a compatible spec iMac that won't launch CorelDraw 2020. (apparently download went fine). Bottom line is the tech suggested he do a remote access to fix it. Is this common? I simply won't allow it and am amazed it would be necessary in 2020.
