Hi,
trying to open old files and generate new files I am unable to use some fonts. What they currently have in common is that they are google fonts. TTF and OTF. I deleted all my old google fonts re-download and re-registered in fontmanager which seams to have fixed it for some like alegrea sans (ttf). Fonts do show propper in fontmanager and also in CD font selector dropdown but once selected it only gives me arial instead like Candal OTF. Both fonts work in any other application incl old CD versions.
anybody else stumbled across this problem?
Yes, having the problem constantly! It doesn't tell you there is any problem, but a completely random selection of fonts just display as Arial. It doesn't even inform us of the problem when opening files. We just have to check carefully to make sure nothing has had the font changed without telling us.
This seems to be with 'not installed' fonts in Font Manager. Normally if we install the fonts, the issue is resolved.
This seems to be much the same as a problem we reported a few years ago, but it seems it has never been fixed - https://community.coreldraw.com/talk/coreldraw-graphics-suite-2021/f/coreldraw-graphics-suite-2021-for-windows/64593/fonts-randomly-not-working
Our solution in the end at the time was to roll back one version of Corel. We've been using that version ever since, but now that we have updated, we have the same problem again.
Since you don't name or share the fonts it's impossible to test on my system. I don't use remote fonts, I have font embedding turned off and I only load fonts in Windows.
Yes David, I remember having the somewhat drawn out conversation with you about this in the previous thread that I linked to. We do not currently have remote fonts turned on, but we do use 'not installed' fonts, which is something Font Manager is advertised as being able to deal with.
Lato, Work Sans and Open Sans are three of the fonts we have had issues with so far. However, it's not just Google Fonts we are seeing this on. From a quick skim through, i can see Americana, Arimo, Arvo, ASAP, Assistant, Umbra, Ultra, and many more doing the same. When we hover over them, the preview in the font drop down looks correct, but when you click the font it just jumps to Arial. Sometimes the whole font family is affected, sometimes just one member of the family.
I've made a video showing this behaviour - https://dscreative.co.uk/images/fonts.mp4
Try a reinstall, but do not install the built in Font Manager. I gave up using it a long time ago. Never had a problem since I stopped using the built in font manager. I do have font embedding turned on though. Lets me know if a font is missing and I can reinstall. Keeping it simple. Use a separate stand alone dedicated Font manager. Quite a few good ones out there.
I only use Corel Font Manager to view fonts not install them. I'll view your video on my studio work station and try and download some of the fonts and test them installed through Windows.
They all work when installed through Windows. That is not the problem. The problem is when they are not installed, which is something that is meant to work with Font Manager.
Well then, you're problem with the work is resolved. Corel Font Manager obviously has an issue with those fonts.
Arkham font does not work in my installation of Windows 10. I can load regular or bold and it seems to work but both loaded do not work.
