Hi,
trying to open old files and generate new files I am unable to use some fonts. What they currently have in common is that they are google fonts. TTF and OTF. I deleted all my old google fonts re-download and re-registered in fontmanager which seams to have fixed it for some like alegrea sans (ttf). Fonts do show propper in fontmanager and also in CD font selector dropdown but once selected it only gives me arial instead like Candal OTF. Both fonts work in any other application incl old CD versions.
anybody else stumbled across this problem?
Yes, having the problem constantly! It doesn't tell you there is any problem, but a completely random selection of fonts just display as Arial. It doesn't even inform us of the problem when opening files. We just have to check carefully to make sure nothing has had the font changed without telling us.
This seems to be with 'not installed' fonts in Font Manager. Normally if we install the fonts, the issue is resolved.
This seems to be much the same as a problem we reported a few years ago, but it seems it has never been fixed - https://community.coreldraw.com/talk/coreldraw-graphics-suite-2021/f/coreldraw-graphics-suite-2021-for-windows/64593/fonts-randomly-not-working
Our solution in the end at the time was to roll back one version of Corel. We've been using that version ever since, but now that we have updated, we have the same problem again.
Since you don't name or share the fonts it's impossible to test on my system. I don't use remote fonts, I have font embedding turned off and I only load fonts in Windows.
I only use Corel Font Manager to view fonts not install them. I'll view your video on my studio work station and try and download some of the fonts and test them installed through Windows.
They all work when installed through Windows. That is not the problem. The problem is when they are not installed, which is something that is meant to work with Font Manager.
Well then, you're problem with the work is resolved. Corel Font Manager obviously has an issue with those fonts.
No, the problem with Font Manager is not resolved. If some software that you have paid for doesn't work as it is meant to, you don't just abandon it and use a less efficient workflow. You either get it fixed or start using a competitors offering (which does have a solid and stable font system!)
Well then you have solved your problem, just use a different software.
I did download the arkham font and it failed to work in Windows itself, the regular and bold version. As long as you load just one font Windows sees it but if you have both installed it appears that Windows only recognizes the bold version.
Programs that synthesis fonts like Word don't care.
