Hi Guys
When trying to import my .raf files, I keep getting "Invalid Filter"
RAF files are listed as acceptable, but won't work,. found the same with CorelDRAW 2020
Try using Photo-PAINT and saving as a cat file and importing.
Wont import into Photopaint either
Good, the issue with the raf and other RAW formats is a lack of standardization of the file format. You not only need support for the RAW format but the camera. Photo-PAINT, PaintShop Pro and Photoshop all lack support for many cameras. When they have support their features are severely lacking.
Just my standard of quality but I prepare all RAW files in AfterShot Pro 3, then advanced edits in Photo-PAINT, sometimes also PaintShop Pro and then import into Draw. Sometimes after a powerclip and sizing in Draw I edit bitmap in Photo-PAINT again for balance in the placed file along other content.
Hi David
Thanks.. Clearly you have been doing this for a while.. I am a CorelDRAW ?PP wiz, but I find Aftershot a little odd, and the HDR just weird.. Anyway. Is there a way to open photos from Aftershot into Photpaint in layers rather than separate files.. like lightroom does..
just wondering..?
What version of AfterShot Pro do you use?
There is a feature in the ASP 3 version that allows you to open a file and edit in an image editor.
I have never used it as I'm a bullhead cuss. However I have set the settings in ASP to do so and tomorrow I will grab some captures of those settings and give it a try.
Now for why I don’t use this feature. I use many tools in ASP and then export to a prophoto RGB TIF file to an archive folder. I do this because I want that original RAW file and the settings saved in ASP, the exported TIF file saved and the Photo-PAINT/PaintShop Pro micro edits as edited files for import. These applications have work space colors set up for micro edits of 1 or 2 points that ASP cannot do.
It's a ridged set of procedures that works.
Hi DAve
I have the latest version, yea I can have an image open in PP straight from ASP. I do Real estate Photos which means I have up to 6 shots of the same scene with flash, ambient, window pulls etc, and need to align and edit the photos on layers in PhotoPaint. It will open multiple images out of ASP but each goes to its own file, I then cut and paste each image into a single file so I have them in layers.. Its a pain.. I think they have stopped working on ASP, it seems quite behind in many ways since the last iteration..
ASP had an update about a week or two ago. I keep the exported ASP TIF files with the EXIF data on my server as proof of ownership. It's a CYA thing.
It's just my opinion but image editors are over used, just so much faster to import images into Draw, size everything, resample or convert to bitmap and export.
I just did a job, 3 projects, over 500 images, about 350 were output the same size as Adobe RGB 18" square, the rest in multiple sizes and in CMYK for traditional print.
All that was done in Photo-PAINT was color management coordination, color correction, edits to correct a few things on many images, upsampling for required output resolution and cropping.
I pulled all into Draw, sized, powerclipped for crops and exported. Occasionally with the CMYK images that were next to other images, color correction was needed after cropping as the crop changed the perception of the images color which was exacerbated by the adjoining images. This was handled using the edit bitmap feature in Photo-PAINT and the corrected image immediately returned to Draw.
The most time consuming aspect was fixing all the design flaws in the supplied InDesign print ready document.
