I am going to be purchasing CorelDraw for a little t-shirt business. Does anyone have a recommendation for a desktop PC? I know the specs I need for storage and such, just looking for opinions.
AMD stuff works fine...other than the well known and commonly reoccuring Corel "glitches and bugs", AMD products have no bearing on the operation of any Corel as far as I have seen. I have never owned anything but AMD products (Mainboards, CPUs and Graphics Cards) ...not on purpose, its just turned out that way. And I have been operating Corel products for close to 20 years. To imply and suggest that AMD and Corel are totally incompatible is totally irresponsible I think.
While 16Gb or RAM is nice to have, it is also NOT required with X8...but that changes everyday as software becomes more demanding.
Same goes for demanding a 4Gb Graphics card or SSD*.
*this year is the first year I have gone to SSD, and while it improved some things on my system, it has not changed the operation of Corel.
Many people use AMD products because they are often cheaper with similar operating specs. I have two Intel based laptops, with what is advertised as "good specs" and both operate poorly and struggle to run older Corel software.
Hi AirDave,After your comments, I think it all has to do with the way we use our machines. The way we install software, the maintenance, etc...The most common issue I've had with AMD products is latency. For comparable specs, AMD processors are slower. But, that's MY experience. I've had many people leaving me the computers for maintenance, complaning of the slow performance of their brand new machines. The latest bargains on ACER computers with AMD components bought at STAPLES or BEST BUY. I'm no computer technician but I know my way around a bit. Enough to help out people with the most popular bugs.A computer tech, very good friend of mine recommended me to switch to INTEL processors and components. The 'i' types. i3, i5, i7 and now i9. If you have the money the XEON...(but that's out of my league) The other 'cheap' ones found in 300/400$ labtops with 4GB of RAM are worse than AMD, IMO.Ever since I switched to INTEL i7 (in my case)...These are BY FAR, the best darn computers I've used in my 25 years of experience. I always keep my computers cleaned up. No leftover temp files for more than a week, in ANY program. I remove a lot of bloatware from day one after purchasing the machines. I keep my machines nearly 5 years and leave them to the kids for gaming (they have to change the Graphics Card, though). I purchase around 1500$ CAD during Black Friday Specials at DELL.ca (meaning a, more or less, 600$ CAD rebate) for a desktop computer. The one I have now is a DELL XPS, i7 6700K @ 4GHz, 24GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (pretty basic), 256GB SSD and a 2TB 7200RPM SATA for stocking. I've had it for almost 3 years now. Doesn't lag one bit. Of course, There were many other more performant machines at the time, but 1500 bucks for a 2400 buck regularly priced machine was quite an opportunity. This is my 2nd DELL XPS and I have nothing bad to say about these rigs! But I'll repeat... this is MY EXPERIENCE.
I would love to tell you that I know what it is but I can't. All I can tell you is that devices with AMD processors and video systems report many more issues them other systems. There are fewer users but Xeon processor systems report many issue also from few machines.
None of our graphic systems run AMD devices, my wife has a POS laptop that's AMD and it does not seem to have issues go figure!
Is it slow? Yes but it only has 8GB of RAM and a lower lever AMD processor.
