Can you draw one line/curve that is solid then becomes dashed or dotted and then change back to solid again after some distance? If so, how do I do that?
That would be an interesting option. Don't think you can do it automatically. You'd have to manually do it. USing the shape tool. Select all nodes, break apart, grab the pick tool a hit cntrl+k (break apart) select the segment/s and change the line style to dash of choice
Thank you Myron. I am doing that but hoped there is a different way to do it. I have a curve that is closed so that I can fill it with a color. When I break it apart the fill color is lost. I would have liked to be able to change the line style (solid to dashed and back to solid), while the curve is still unbroken.
Now I draw the curve. Fill it. The make its outline the same color as the fill. Then I draw each line segment in the style I want (solid and dashed) over the first curve. That, however, takes to much time :(
Thanks for the response though.
Just out of curiosity would there be a set pattern or random line segments to make dashed. My thought was to create a macro that would break the line segments then change the style of every other segment to a set dashed style.
Alternately use the shape tool highlight the segments you want to be dashed and hit ctrl+x (cut) then paste and change to dashed.
Thanks again for the reply. Unfortunately it is very specific segments that I need to change to dashed segments. But I do like your suggestion. It gave me some ideas for some other problems that I had previously on another project (that I still need to get back to :) ).
