It is well known that frequency spearation is a technique to retouching skin in Portaits. There are a lot of PhotoShop tutorials about it.
One layer with gaussian blur and one above with linear light... but what would be the equivalent of "Apply Image" (used in Photoshop) in PhotoPaint, and what values should I use? (Preferably on the 2017 version)
For those who do not know what frecueny separation is www.google.com/search
I use Low Pass for the color/tone layer and High Pass for the texture layer then I choose blend mode of Hard Light for texture layer (sometime I decrease Opacity of this layer to 85%). FYI.
Thank you for your answer. The point is that the resulting image is not precise.
I am using the same values for High Pass and Low Pass, 3 for example.
Then I copy the original image on a new layer with "Difference" blending mode, and it clearly shows information.
The typical method on PS uses one of the layers, the color/tone, to generate the details/texture one, so it is based on the actual information difference vs the original. In this case, the two passes are generated independently from each other.
