Help Corel Photo paint - I need to remove the background from photos without using magic hand - any suggestions?

  • You could try Color Mask. Duplicate the background layer first. The Use Mask>Color Mask. Use the eyedropper to sample some of the white and gray areas. You may need to sample several areas to get the range needed. Click OK and you'll see "marching ants" around what was selected.

Now use Object>Clip Mask>Create>From Inverted Mask. To see if you got all the background removed that you want, place a different colored layer underneath. NOTE: I opted to use a Clip Mask because it's less destructive. In addition you can select the clip mask and use a paint brush to paints with black or white to bring back areas or add to them if needed.

    Did this with color masking...
