Using CorelDRAW to Design Graphics for Mobile Gaming Website – Tips?

I run a gaming-focused website called apkeast.com where I cover popular Android games, including modded versions. Recently, I started designing some of the feature images, thumbnails, and mobile-optimized graphics myself using CorelDRAW.

While I've figured out the basics, I'm curious if anyone here:

  • Has experience designing assets for mobile-first gaming websites?

  • Can recommend best export settings for small file size but high clarity?

  • Uses CorelDRAW for creating game UI mockups or banner-style visuals?

I'm aiming for a clean and colorful look that still loads fast on phones.

Any feedback, resources, or feature tips would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

  • Hey Arianna, I've been using CorelDRAW for web assets for a while, and for a gaming site like yours, the biggest hurdle is usually balancing those vibrant colors with fast load times.

For export settings, I’ve found that exporting as WebP instead of PNG or JPEG is a game changer. It keeps the "clean and colorful look" you're aiming for but cuts the file size down significantly. If you're doing UI mockups, definitely stick to the Pixels grid so your lines don't get blurry on high-res mobile screens.

Quick tip: check out the "Export for Web" dialog in the file menu it lets you preview the file size before you save, which is super handy for mobile optimization.

Are you mostly doing static banners, or are you looking into creating SVG icons for the site too? Those stay perfectly sharp no matter how much a user zooms in on their phone.
