Hi all, a long time draw user but I have spent very little time in photo-paint.
I feel I'm a bit of a dummy on this.
When I try to open a pdf file I get an error saying the file cannot be opened and to use the import command.
When I try to import, I get an error saying the file cannot be imported, try the open command.
What am I missing please?
Photo-PAINT does not support PDF files
If Corel Photopaint does not support PDF files, then it should clearly say so in the Help manual AND on the product box.
At the moment it seems:
1. You *can* save as a PDF from within the program ('Export' command)
2 PDF *is* listed in the list of 'supported file formats' File formats : Supported file formats :)
It only mentions export but doesn't mention other partial support (see 3.)
3. "Drag and drop" of a simple pdf file into an open Photopaint document usually DOES work. (although it seems to have problems with importing text as text rather then curves). some say it can crop oddly, but I've not seen this so far.
4. 'Open with...' from Windows File Explorer seems to work similarly to 'drag and drop'.
The support is real spotty try and open any PDF larger than 8.5 x 11 and it's trash.
I was hoping that Corel would soon support color managed rasterization of PDF in PP so I could totally eliminate Adobe products from my life.
PhotoPaint doesn't import nor open PDF files, although the help file include it on the supported file formats because you can drag and drop it. Anyway, the result is not always as we expected, then is not a good solution to use it. I hope that Corel develop a new support for PDF on the future, but it doesn't work at the present. Moreover, CorelDRAW is not a PDF editor neither, although it can convert most of the PDF and translate most of the content, it's not a PDF viewer or editor. Ypu should use a PDF software for this purpose, such as Acrobat (the native application), Corel PDF Fusion, Foxit, etc
Open the file as all file types. Once it is saved. You should clean up any files you created in the recent. Corel makes a mess of file types and you have to clean it up and so forth and so on...
