So now after resolving several other issues, I'm missing my thumbnail previews. All I see is the Corel Icon. I've tried a repair install, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Ghostscript and the Windows Shell, restarting after each step. I've tried reassociating the file type in Windows. Nothing. Each time Corel releases a new version, it seems I have to fight for days to get the program usable. This is probably the worst release since X4. Can anyone help so I can start doing my job and not trying to fix the software I purchased?
Hello Jeversole,
Where you able to resolve the thumbnail issue? I have thousands of cdr and cpt files. Opening multiple files to see if it's the file I'm looking for ludicrous. Are you and I the only users having this problem? I don't see any other complaints. Unfortunately Ronny's solution did not help me. Control Panel only shows one shell extension installed. I shudder every time Corel has a new release. Very seldom is there a new tool I can use or need. Two version ago the removed the Icon editor. I have several tool that use the same icon now. That's just a headache and unnecessary. Hope to hear from you soon with a solution.
Thanks, John
Yes. By investing in a 3rd party program called Mystic Thumbs. Because Corel released the most buggy, criminally unfit for release program I've ever encountered in my 21 years as a graphic artist. No other solution worked. Even completely uninstalling all instances and versions of Corel from my machine and thoroughly rooting it out of my registry and doing a fresh install. There should seriously be a class action lawsuit against Corel for this release. We were forced to upgrade from X7 because of customers who've requested we upgrade. And our productivity has significantly suffered since.
I will buy Mystic Thumbs and try it. I had a light day today so I thought I might fix a few Corel bugs. Here it is late afternoon and no fix. If I contact support they don't answer until 24 hours have passed. Then they always request a screen shot so they can study it for another 24 hours. I skipped the last upgrade just because I didn't have time for the bugs. For some reason my older release started acting quirky so I made the jump. I have several days invested with Corel support on printer problems. It turned out to be a problem with the new and improved font navigator. The fix was temporary and the problem kept coming back. Now I export as a jpg and print through another program. I spent two days and twenty five sheets of photo paper trying to correct this problem. Now it's just another Corel work around. I will let you know how things go with Mystic Thumbs.
